Little Red Hen Kids and Kitchen is a retail store that provides supportive employment for developmentally disabled adults who are looking to develop and improve their social, interpersonal and occupational skills. Kids and Kitchen staff work with customers, assist with Little Red Hen promotion, and help maintain the store.
Working with customers encourages social interaction with people in the community. Staff will greet customers, help them find merchandise, and ring them up on the register. This fosters self-confidence in our staff, and helps them reach their potential as individuals.
The Kids and Kitchen staff also helps display new merchandise. Part of displaying the new product is learning about it, and being able to help customers with the knowledge that they have learned. By learning about tools and product that are used in the kitchen, the hope is to promote healthy living and eating choices for the staff.
